Chapter 24
The deceitful scoundrel!
Suzy watched in disbelief as an attendant wheeled a rollaway bed into the room followed by another with an armful of pillows and bed spreads.
Within a few seconds, the portable bed had been transformed into an inviting fluffy cloud.
After they left, Suzy dived under her own covers to hide her scalding humiliation and to fume indignantly.
God!
She never wanted to see his smug face again even though she was the one who demanded they slept separately!
Since when did he take orders from her?
âHey you,â he whispered somewhere above her head. âI need to kiss those awesome brown eyes a sweet goodnight.â
âGo away.â She scowled fiercely under the sheets.
He chuckled. âWhat did I do now?â
âNothing.â The bastard! He knew exactly what he did.
And now sheâd be up all night floundering likeâ¦aâ¦a mermaid out of water unable to reach her elusive sun prince, the one who could cure her fever with his fire.
He kissed her head through the sheet. âSweet dreams.â
She rocketed out of the covers. âHey!â
âHey what?â He asked with mock innocence, his impossibly dark eyes and his unperturbed stance teaming up to convey that this was all Suzyâs doing, her wish was his command.
âNothing,â she muttered.
He sighed. âWeâve a long day ahead of us tomorrow.â
âOk.â She felt her spirits sag.
âHey,â he said softly, leaning nearer. âIâm seeing some blues in those river brown eyes.â
âIâm okay,â she muttered.
âGood.â He moved to switch off the light and then he was gone, tucked away in his comfy bed.
Suzy tried to relax but the bed refused to cooperate, becoming less comfy with each fidget.
She bit her lip.
In this state of arousal, sheâd never get any sleep. Yes, even the scent of him remained behind to provoke her.
Maybe she should lower her pride and ask him to stay with her? Was pride worth a sleepless night?
Heat slid up her spine as she contemplated a reckless idea. Well, then, she better moved fast before caution reared its head or worse, before he fell into a deep sleep.
Shedding her piece of clothing, she shuffled through the darkness to his bed.
Holding her breath, she peered down at him.
He was on his belly, arms hugging a pillow. The sheet covering his lower back outlined his rear end in all its well-proportioned-sex-uplifting-glory.
She lifted the sheet and slid under, her bare bottom coming in delicious contact with his naked frame.
He went rigid.
And then. âOh, baby.â He shifted to accommodate her. âYouâre a manâs dream come true, you know?â
Her cheeks heated. âI canât sleep.â
âI know.â He pressed her into him, making sure she was aware of his own jutting needs.
She loved his recklessness, loved that he had no inhibitions about sinning with her.
She angled her neck for his imminent kiss but he aimed for her mouth, imitating the sex act with his tongue, evoking deep longings older than time.
âYouâre a drug.â He broke off the kiss. âIf rum addicts tasted lips like these, they would jump ship.â
She moaned. âReally?â
âBaby, youâre liquid fire.â His mouth dipped lower.
He encased a nipple causing a shuddering moan to escape her.
